St Little Teresa’s Girls’ Higher Secondary School

St. Little Teresa’s School is situated at the bank of Vembanad Lake and it enjoys the calmness of the area and the breeze that comes from the lake. It is preparing to celebrate it’s 60th birthday. On January 25th of 1949, on the request of the parishioners to have a school for the ancient Forane church of Vaikom, the Archbishop of Ernakulam Mar Augustine Kandathil gave permission to Very Rev. Fr. Isaac Chirackal, the vicar, to procure necessary land for the same. With the joint effort of the parishioners and the vicar, on May 30th 1949, started the new school – the class of Std. VIII. The decision to build the present school building came in the middle of the same year and in 1959 the ground floor was built and the entire high school section was moved to the new building.

From 1953, the U.P.section of the English medium school run by the Carmalite convent was also moved to this building. Thus the school conducted classes from 5th standard to 10th standard. There were only 48 students and three teachers when it started. In 1998, by the the effort of the vicar Rev Fr. George Pulicknal, the school got approved as Higher Secondary School. The same year, the first floor of the school building was completed and was officially inaugurated.

Today, the school services 8 batches of higher secondary section, 14 divisions of H.S section, 7 divisions of U.P. section comprising of 1200 students. There are 48 teachers and 7 other staff. Also there are 2 computer rooms, and 1 multimedia room to accomodate the emerging high tech world. Also there are other necessary equipments for the running of a school with 17 computers, 1 L.C.D. projector, T.V. V.C.D. etc. There are various associations among the students to develop physical and spiritual growth. The main associations are Counseling classes, Moral classes, K.C.S.L., D.C.L. Jr. Red Cross  guiding classes. The school also has a band group and fairly large play ground.

The school hails as the first school in Vaikom area to achieve 100% success in S.S.L.C examination.  St. Little Teresa’s School  can be proud of molding so many youngsters into winners of educational, cultural and spiritual achievements. In 2008, the school building completed the second floor through the efforts of Very Rev. Fr. John Thekkan.

St. Louis UP School

St. Louis School was established by Rev. Fr. Varkey Kattarath.  The Lower Primary School was upgraded to Upper Primary School by the effort of Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Maniyamkott.  The school contains both English and Malayalam medium classes from L.K.G. to Seventh standard.

The students belongs to this village enjoys a fruitful education system from this institution. The schools stars both in academical and extra-curricular activities.  School buses are provided for the easy arrival of the students. A good computer lab functions in the school and provides computer education to students. Moral classes and other formative programmes help the students in character formation.
